In search of a volunteer Visual Storyteller (Video and Digital Content Specialist) For Animal Sanctuary

 

Summary: 

The visual storyteller specialist utilizes their expertise in video production and photography to artfully capture and convey the mission and vision of the animal sanctuary, bringing the stories of the animals and their journey to life through compelling visuals.

 


 

Description:

 

Lily's Place, a vegan-run sanctuary for aging, injured, and displaced farm animals, seeks a skilled visual storyteller with an emphasis on video content (photography would be a bonus).

In this volunteer role, the Visual Storyteller will play a crucial role in creating captivating visual content to support the mission of caring for and rehabilitating farm animals rescued from neglect, abuse, and abandonment. This volunteer position provides an opportunity to showcase the animals' journeys through compelling videos, raising awareness and engaging the community.

Our ideal candidate can demonstrate experience and proficiency in video production & post-production, has strong creative and conceptual skills to develop compelling video campaigns that resonate with key audiences and align with the organization's mission, and has a passion for farmed animal welfare. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the board of directors and essential volunteers to understand the sanctuary's vision, mission, and storytelling objectives.
  • Develop and execute (with the board of directors's approval) visual storytelling concepts and ideas that effectively promote animal welfare, educate the public on key welfare concerns (particularly through the lens of rescue stories), showcase the animals' journeys, personalities and life at the sanctuary, and demonstrate the need for farm animal sanctuaries in the Maritimes.
  • Ensure videos (all post-production) are ready for sharing by volunteers across various social media platforms.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in video content creation and storytelling.
  • Experience in digital marketing is an asset.
  • Experience in digital photography is an asset.
  • Proficiency in video editing software and knowledge of industry-standard techniques to produce high-quality and engaging videos.
  • Strong creative and conceptual skills to develop compelling video campaigns
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive attitude
  • Familiarity and/or understanding of the animal welfare sector and surrounding issues is an asset.
  • Passionate about animal welfare 

 

Time Commitment and Location

  • Flexible hours, approximately 4 hours a week
  • After initial filming at the sanctuary, work is remote; work from home.
  • Volunteer must be able to travel to the sanctuary (located in Codys, NB) to record the video assets they need to create campaigns.
