Are you interested in volunteering your skills and some time with an established Non-Profit Organization that specializes in providing a safe, caring and home-like environment for individuals who have survived Traumatic Brain Injuries? If so, you may be a good match to serve on the SHI Board of Directors.
We are a community-based facility located in Hanwell, New Brunswick. Our mandate is to meet the everyday needs of each individual so that they may live a full life with dignity and respect. Our dedicated staff provide care and services for six adult males in a safe environment. Residents are encouraged to engage with the community and participate in activities, outings, and meaningful work placements.
SHI is governed by a Board of Directors (Board) who ensure the effective operation of the facility. SHI’s Constitution and By-Laws provide for a Board consisting of a minimum of three (3) members and a maximum of twelve (12) including Officers. We are currently looking for new members who can contribute in a variety of ways such as bringing their expertise and background experiences to the board. This might range from financial management, facility maintenance, human resources, collective bargaining, legal, social work, healthcare and more.
To meet our goals and objectives, members should expect to participate in a minimum of ten regular board meetings per year, as well as committee meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and other activities, as may be required.
Note: The daily administration and activities of SHI are the responsibility of SHI’s Residential Facility Manager (Manager). The Manager implements the policies of the Board and acts as liaison between the residents and the Board. The Manager is not a member of the Board.
