This volunteer position carries out the office and fiduciary responsibilities of the Deputy Treasurer of the Fredericton Trails Coalition Inc.
This volunteer position requires no special skills although a working knowledge of financial bookkeeping would be an asset. This may also be acquired with on the job training. All required training will be provided. This position may, at the availability and wishes of the incumbent, also be a member of the Board of Directors.
This position will be required to update the financial ledger monthly (as a minimum), deposit credit notes, issue reimbursement cheques and contribute to the monthly financial statement.
Once annually at year end (28 Feb) a consolidated annual statement shall be required to be drafted for submission at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) usually held mid-March.
Once annually in March, a CRA not-for-profit (NFP) report (annual tax statement) shall be required to be drafted for submission to the CRA. Familiarity with the CRA’s not-for-profit (NFP) guidelines would be an asset, but not required as the Deputy Treasurer. This may also be acquired with on the job training. All required training will be provided.
No advanced programming skills are required, a basic knowledge of MS Excel would be an asset, the financial reporting format is set, just update the text and figures. The existing Treasurer will be available for your training and consult throughout. You will never be left alone to figure it out.
This volunteer position has a standing workload of approximately 3 hours per month in the Spring/Summer, decreasing to 2 hours per month in the late Fall/Winter. The Treasurer’s annual CRA report requires approximately 4 hours to prepare and cross-check in March annually. You will work from home and correspond by email or telephone. Monthly meetings are optional for this position – 10 meetings per year are scheduled for the Directors. The Deputy Treasurer functions may correspond by telephone and emails as an alternative for official Board Meetings to conduct business.
