Who We Are
Mission: To change what it is to be blind through innovative programs and powerful advocacy that enable Canadians impacted by blindness to live the lives they choose.
Celebrating over 100 years Canada, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) Foundation is a non-profit organization driven to change what it is to be blind today. We deliver innovative programs and powerful advocacy that empower people impacted by blindness to live their dreams and tear down barriers to inclusion. Our work as a blind foundation is powered by a network of volunteers, donors and partners from coast to coast to coast.
What We Do
Living with sight loss can be challenging but, with support, people with sight loss can face the future with confidence. CNIB can connect people with sight loss with people in their community and provide personal growth, learning and recreational opportunities. Our flexible programs are developed around the interests and needs of people with sight loss and are offered in communities throughout New Brunswick.
Services and programming provided by CNIB:
- Peer support groups and for individuals and families affected by vision loss
- Advocacy efforts to promote accessibility and inclusion in public spaces, education, and employment
- Educational resources and accessible formats, including audiobooks and braille services through CNIB’s library system
- Public awareness campaigns to educate communities about vision impairment and break down social barriers
