Volunteer: Equine Assistant/helper

On the farm, there are currently 12 horses, 11 of which belong to the farm itself. They are used for riding lessons as well as equine assisted learning sessions and programs. 

Each of these horses can benefit from more frequent grooming, as well as exercise. If you are interested in volunteers, tasks could involve grooming, walking or lunging horses (based on experience), tacking up, as well as barn chores like cleaning up stalls and helping with water and feed requirements.

Volunteer: Board member for Non-profit organisation, Next Bound with Philomena Farms

You will be part of a team responsible for the strategic planning, oversight, and accountability of a non-profit organisation dedicated to combating food insecurity while simultaneously providing an environment where Veterans (or serving members) and First Responders can find a renewed sense of purpose in helping their community.

Job Responsibilities:

-            Help facilitate transition of the organisation to Charity status as required;

-            Ensure all of Next Bound’s activities are within legal parameters;

-            Plan and execute fundraising activities;

-            Find and apply for grants as applicable;

-            Plan and coordinate donations to Food Bank and other similar programs; and

-            Plan yearly events such as Remembrance Day.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

-            Ability to work well in a team environment;

-            Communication skills, both in writing and orally;

-            Ability to research policies;

-            Problem solving skills;

-            Organisational skills; and

-            Planning skills.

Additional assets:

-            Accounting or bookkeeping knowledge/experience;

-            Fundraising experience;

-            Leadership experience/skills; and

-            Digital skills.

Next Bound with Philomena Farms, Inc has two main areas of focus which drive all our activities and actions. In partnership with Philomena Farms, we offer (1) an environment where First Responders and Veterans can find support in their recovery amongst peers and find a sense of purpose by volunteering to raise and grow food products. The products from the farm are then donated to various organisations/individuals to help (2) combat food insecurity within our community.

We are looking for individuals to join our team who are passionate about helping others and are willing and able to give about 5 hours a week of their time, remotely.
