Stuck at home or with limited opportunity to go anywhere?

Are you itching to help give back to the many health care workers and hospitals who need donations and awareness more than ever?

Good Times Running has come up with yet another great idea to allow just about anyone in Canada who are able to run indoors or outdoors while we get through these challenging times.  The Isolation Run has launched with an ambitious goal to raise $1 million dollars across Canada and potentially in other English-speaking markets through a mass fundraiser.

To date, we have raised over $2,300 in the first week with 16 hospitals onboard.

We are looking for individuals to support in the following areas but not limited to:

- social media marketing

- outreach by phone and/or email

- creative strategy, ideas and ways to engage partners, ambassadors and others wanting to get involved

- fundraising experience

- public relations and/or marketing support

- sponsorship, sales and outreach

- administrative duties such as answering emails and following up with participants

- some back-end, light website duties (maintenance, upgrades and additions to the website, photo gallery, etc.)

The FAN group of people has done so much good work in and around the Fredericton area and across the province. We now need to plan for succession. We wish to see the organization continue as a seniors organization. What the organization needs are people who are already familiar with various aspects of IT, computers and websites. The Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick (CMHA of NB) is looking for volunteers interested in wearing and/or handling our mascot costume for various fundraising and mental health related awareness events in the Greater Fredericton Area. Events will be both indoors and outdoors.

Here's how you can help:

The ideal volunteer is reliable, enthusiastic, fun, comfortable interacting with children and the general public, and not afraid of being the center of attention! Due to costume specificities, the height requirement for the costume is between 5'5" and 5'9" tall. Volunteers must have their own mode of transportation to and from all events. The "Myles" costume does have a cooling vest, but can still get quite warm inside so potential volunteers should also not be overly sensitive to heat.

Thousands of volunteers from all walks of life work with offenders and ex-offenders in federal correctional institutions and communities across the country.  Many CSC volunteers have moved on to become CSC employees.

Volunteers are an integral part of many offenders’ lives, whether the offender is in prison or on parole.  By bringing the community into the correctional environment, volunteers help offenders function more effectively upon release into the community.

FLOURISH Festival 2019 is looking for Youth Engagement Volunteers to help promote our programming and festival among people aged 13-21. FLOURISH Festival is an amazing independent music and art festival that offers a wide range of free programming, workshops and shows. Job Description: Are you a handy person who loves sports? The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is looking for a volunteer Jack or Jill-of-All-Trades who can build exhibit cases and displays, can paint and knows the ins and outs of small construction projects.

The primary task will be to work with the curator in bringing exhibits to life by helping design, construct and assemble exhibit cases as well as creative displays and installations. Other tasks may include building shelving, painting and small repairs.

The NB Sports Hall of Fame is searching for a volunteer (from the Fredericton Area) for an exciting opportunity to assist with the organization and delivery of the Canadian Association for Sport Heritage National Conference
The NB Sports Hall of Fame will be the official host organization, however the majority of the conference will be held at the Fredericton Crown Plaza from June 19 - 21, 2019.  This biennial conference usually attracts between 30 and 50 museum and Sports Halls of Fame professionals from across Canada.

Established in 1991, the Third Age Centre is a Registered Charity housed at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick.  Directed by a volunteer Board, it operates on the principle of seniors helping seniors.  The Centre’s Goal is to support seniors’ efforts to maintain an active healthy lifestyle, develop themselves, and serve their communities. TAC promotes life-long learning, informed public discussion, and inter- generational exchange between seniors and younger people.

The Board meets approximately 10 times per year. The meetings are between 60 and 90 minutes. The main activity is planning public information events, although there may be some fund-raising activity and other tasks that occasionally arise.

At present the Board is predominantly female and would like to achieve more balance in gender representation. The Board is also hoping to expand its skill sets among them fund-raising, accounting or bookkeeping, graphic design, website and social media management, and marketing.

Ditch the Desk- A dance party with purpose!

Ditch the Desk is an epic noon-hour dance party. The event highlights two local offices who are selected to go head-to-head in a dance off to support the charity of their choice. Each event is also hosted by a different local dance group who will get the crowd dancing and showcase their own stuff!  The purpose of the event is to get moving for meaning; to ditch our desks, to showcase different local dance/fitness groups and support our community through fun!

We are currently expanding and creating a new committee and are looking for members who love to dance and who want to connect and uplift the community. We are looking for:

-People to help with event planning and coordination

-People with skills in marketing and promotion

-People with skills in graphic design

-People connected to different community groups

-Dance instructors/ Enthusiasts

Regular board meetings and work on committees. This is a working board, as the Fredericton Arts Alliance has essentially no staff. We would love to have someone with strong IT skills to help update and upgrade our website and other IT links. A commitment to the arts is obviously important.

Civic Tech Fredericton serves as the connective tissue between citizens, organizations, government innovators and the tech community. We facilitate knowledge sharing and work collaboratively to build the digital tools residents expect and need. 

The national civic tech movement is supported by Code For Canada, which serves as a platform and resource hub for civic tech organizers across the country. Civic Tech communities across North America unites policymakers, technologists, designers, public servants and engaged residents together to learn from one another and make their communities better places to live.

The Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre is looking for volunteers to work in the Community Access Room. The Community Access Room has laundry and showering facilities for the vulnerably housed or homeless population. It’s also a place where people can have a cup of coffee and learn about helpful community and FDCHC resources. Volunteers will work in the room for 3 hour shifts from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on week nights doing various tasks including but not limited to helping people with their laundry, providing toiletries & clothing items upon request, helping clients access resources, or simply having conversations with clients. Ideal volunteers are kind-hearted, compassionate individuals who are good listeners. Experience working with vulnerable populations and knowledge of community resources in Fredericton are both assets but not required.

Tannery Court, a non-profit organization offering affordable housing in the community, is seeking presenters interested in visiting residents and sharing their expertise in workplace skills, finance basics, self-esteem, conflict management, healthy lifestyle choices, cooking, and fitness!

The Arthritis Society recruits speakers to become the voice for those living with arthritis in communities across the country to help generate awareness. Volunteers do this by promoting new initiatives from The Society in their communities and letting The Society know what needs to be addressed. This role may involve letter writing, working with local elected officials, and other forms of advocacy.

Girl Guides of Canada Mawiw Area is looking for weekly female Volunteers to become leaders in various units across Fredericton, Oromocto and surrounding areas. 

Units meets various nights of the week and at various times. Most units meet once a week from September to June.

Volunteers needed for all age groups

Sparks - 5-6 year olds

Brownies - 7-8 year olds

Guides - 9-11 year olds

Pathfinders - 12-14 year olds

We are looking for volunteers to help us distribute event posters and postcards around downtown Fredericton. 

This is a fun opportunity to make connections with local businesses, get some fresh air, and support our non profit organization while you're at it!

Helping with events and activities in parks or protected areas– help organize fun activities in
parks or information tables in the community; help promote activities to get more people to come to the
events; help us at events by co-leading activities, or helping with logistics.

Time commitment: can be occasional volunteer, or can help more long-term with organizing and promotion.

Skills needed or helpful: event organizing skills, knowledge of how to promote events or poster design skills; outdoor skills, first aid certification, moderate level of physical ability (walking, ability to be outdoors);

Skills developed: learn more about our parks and the nature opportunities they offer, socialize with others who share your interests; learn about event organizing and promotion.

As a Newsletter volunteer you will help us to get the word out about what is going on at CPAWS-NB! Tasks may include writing articles, submitting or taking photos, and helping with our chapter newsletter.

Time commitment: 5-10 hours per year

Skills needed: photography, writing or desktop publishing, interest in communications.

Skills developed: publishing, design, marketing and journalistic skills.

Help promote our activities by sharing stories, videos and photos online (Facebook, Twitter, website, etc.).

Time commitment: as much time as you want to spend online! 1-2 hours per month would help.

Skills needed: familiarity with online networking and social media.

Skills developed: you’ll be learning about our conservation programs while honing your communications and writing skills.

Go with our staff on school visits and help teach kids about nature conservation in New Brunswick.

Time commitment: you will need to participate in a CPAWS organized training session about 2-3 hours; once trained, you can decide how often you can assist in the schools (sessions are 1 hour long, plus travel time to schools).

Skills needed: like working with children, enthusiasm, quick learner (must undergo background check).

Skills developed: get experience educating young people, learn more about nature education relevant to New Brunswick.

Clothesline Drop Box ChampionThe Clothesline Drop Box Champion supports the donation of gently used clothing, electronics and small household items to the Clothesline program.

As a Clothesline Drop Box Champion, you will support Clothesline donation boxes in your community by keeping an eye on the boxes and reporting when the box needs service (because it has bags or boxes stacked outside the box, is full or has been defaced by graffiti). This would be something that an individual could do while going about their daily activities, by calling in when a box is in need of attention.

The Habitat ReStore is discount renovation centre that sells donations of new and gently used building material, doors, windows, furniture, appliances, etc. All proceeds from the Habitat ReStore support future Habitat home builds in our community. Volunteers are always needed for a variety of duties including pricing, inventory, cash related duties, pick-up and delivery of donated items, etc.
