Girl Guides of Canada Mawiw Area is looking for weekly female Volunteers to become leaders in various units across Fredericton, Oromocto and surrounding areas. 

Units meets various nights of the week and at various times. Most units meet once a week from September to June.

Volunteers needed for all age groups

Sparks - 5-6 year olds

Brownies - 7-8 year olds

Guides - 9-11 year olds

Pathfinders - 12-14 year olds 

No experience needed, training opportunities available, inclusive environment

We are looking for volunteers to help us distribute event posters and postcards around downtown Fredericton. 

This is a fun opportunity to make connections with local businesses, get some fresh air, and support our non profit organization while you're at it!

We hope to hear from you.

Helping with events and activities in parks or protected areas– help organize fun activities in
parks or information tables in the community; help promote activities to get more people to come to the
events; help us at events by co-leading activities, or helping with logistics.

Time commitment: can be occasional volunteer, or can help more long-term with organizing and promotion.

Skills needed or helpful: event organizing skills, knowledge of how to promote events or poster design skills; outdoor skills, first aid certification, moderate level of physical ability (walking, ability to be outdoors);

Skills developed: learn more about our parks and the nature opportunities they offer, socialize with others who share your interests; learn about event organizing and promotion.

As a Newsletter volunteer you will help us to get the word out about what is going on at CPAWS-NB! Tasks may include writing articles, submitting or taking photos, and helping with our chapter newsletter.

Time commitment: 5-10 hours per year

Skills needed: photography, writing or desktop publishing, interest in communications.

Skills developed: publishing, design, marketing and journalistic skills.

Help promote our activities by sharing stories, videos and photos online (Facebook, Twitter, website, etc.).

Time commitment: as much time as you want to spend online! 1-2 hours per month would help.

Skills needed: familiarity with online networking and social media.

Skills developed: you’ll be learning about our conservation programs while honing your communications and writing skills.

Go with our staff on school visits and help teach kids about nature conservation in New Brunswick.

Time commitment: you will need to participate in a CPAWS organized training session about 2-3 hours; once trained, you can decide how often you can assist in the schools (sessions are 1 hour long, plus travel time to schools).

Skills needed: like working with children, enthusiasm, quick learner (must undergo background check).

Skills developed: get experience educating young people, learn more about nature education relevant to New Brunswick.

Clothesline Drop Box ChampionThe Clothesline Drop Box Champion supports the donation of gently used clothing, electronics and small household items to the Clothesline program.

As a Clothesline Drop Box Champion, you will support Clothesline donation boxes in your community by keeping an eye on the boxes and reporting when the box needs service (because it has bags or boxes stacked outside the box, is full or has been defaced by graffiti). This would be something that an individual could do while going about their daily activities, by calling in when a box is in need of attention.

The Habitat ReStore is discount renovation centre that sells donations of new and gently used building material, doors, windows, furniture, appliances, etc. All proceeds from the Habitat ReStore support future Habitat home builds in our community. Volunteers are always needed for a variety of duties including pricing, inventory, cash related duties, pick-up and delivery of donated items, etc.
