General Description: If you have a passion for sports, heritage and museums this is the volunteer position for you! The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is looking for a volunteer collections assistant to help with the labelling, cataloguing and storage of its recent accessions (artefacts).
Specific Duties:
- Proper care and handling of artefacts and archival documents
- Labelling artefacts and archival documents
- Photographing artefacts using digital camera
- Storing artefacts and archival documents
- Documenting accessions using Virtual Museums database
- Reorganize storage facilities as needed
Ideal Qualifications:
- Experience working with museums and art galleries collections
- Knowledge of / willingness to learn Virtual Museums database
- Excellent hand writing / printing
- Good eye sight
- Ability to sew
- Nit-picky
- Knows how to use digital camera
- Able to climb stairs / carry or lift objects
Hours: 2-3 hours per week as needed.
Requirements: This volunteer role is suitable to an individual who can commit at least 2-3 hours on an ongoing basis.
