Caregiver Support Network Facilitator Description
What is a Caregiver Support Network?
A Caregiver Support Network (CSN) is a safe, inclusive, compassionate and welcoming peer support group. Family members and friends of people living with any stage of Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia come together in a stigma-free environment to share, learn and connect.
The Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick offers virtual and in-person Caregiver Support Networks throughout New Brunswick.
What does a Caregiver Support Network facilitator do?
· Work with a partner to create and maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for care partners to share knowledge and support.
· Receive training and support from the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
· Have an opportunity to connect with care partners and contribute to their community.
What skills or qualifications do I need to be a facilitator?
· Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written & verbal)
· Ability to work independently, as well as in a team
· General understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia
· Experience facilitating or attending a support group (optional)
