SVNB offers an after-hours confidential support line for anyone affected by sexual violence (either personally or are supporting someone affected by sexual violence). Volunteers play a central role in our organization and we work diligently to support them in their work on the line. Part of this is our intensive (60-hr) volunteer training in areas related to sexual assault, trauma, and intervening in crisis situations, which most volunteers say was an enriching and empowering experience that helped them feel prepared to take calls on the line. Once training is complete we ask our volunteers to take 8 x 4-hour shifts per month on the support line. There are many time options that can fit almost any schedule.
