Our volunteers are a group of womxn who provide and invaluable service to our community and to survivors of sexual violence in the greater Fredericton area. FSAC’s volunteers must identify as womxn in a way that is significant to them. We use an inclusive definition of “woman” and “female” and we welcome trans womxn, genderqueer womxn, and non-binary people who are significantly female-identified. Involvement with the Centre gives volunteers the opportunity to gain experience, knowledge and skills in many areas, including crisis counselling, advocacy, non-profit organizations and a variety of issues related to sexual violence
Our volunteers take between 4-6 shifts per month on our 24 hour support line and also accompany those who have been sexually assaulted to the hospital and/or police station when requested. Our volunteers are actively involved in different aspects of the Centre's work (i.e. public speaking, advocacy, fundraising, calls, etc) and are expected to attend the monthly meetings.
Our Fall training is running through the month of October, if you would like a copy of the schedule as well as the volunteer application please email me at a.young@bellaliant.com
