The Fredericton Dialogue Community (FDC) is a Not-For-Profit agency working towards social cohesion and the celebration of equity, inclusivity, and diversity in the City of Fredericton. Through community development initiatives, our team tackles complex social problems effecting the quality of life and everyday experience of different populations in Fredericton. The FDC has four main objectives for pursuing its community development initiatives: regaining the public's trust in institutions, improving perceptions of fairness, increasing respect for social rules, and increasing the acceptance of social diversity. Our mission is to create an environment where everyone in Fredericton feels accepted, equal and understood. A place where people believe there is opportunity for all, and that every face is welcomed, and every voice is heard and valued.
The FDC’s current team is made up of 11 social cohesion ambassadors who devote their time and their efforts to the various initiatives pursued by the agency. In order to strengthen our team we are looking for volunteers and ambassadors to join our efforts. There are numerous ways to become apart of the team, whether that is to become an active member of the FDC as a whole, attending our synchronous team meetings, giving input and feedback for our current and future initiatives, promoting our work and attending our public dialogues. Or joining a specific working team on a certain initiative such as the #LostVotes Campaign fighting for permanent resident municipal voting rights and its Digital Storytelling project, or the Doone Street initiative working to increase the quality of life and safety for residents of Doone Street and Wilson Row. There are numerous ways to get involved in these projects as well as the many more to come. Any form of help and participation is welcomed and encouraged! Please read the attached Onboarding Document to better understand our team and how you can get involved.
