The Lifesaving Society New Brunswick seeks an accountant to join its volunteer Board of Directors as Vice President Finance.
The Society is a registered charity working to prevent drowning and reduce water related injury.
Purpose: To govern the Lifesaving Society New Brunswick in accordance with the Society’s Bylaws and Mission and to provide leadership on financial matters to the Board of Directors.
Term of Office: Elected to the Board of Directors at the Lifesaving Society’s Annual General Meeting for a term of two years.
Reporting Relationship: To the members at the General Meeting, annually and to the Board of Directors as required.
Responsibilities
- Participate as an active member of the Board of Directors in an ethical and lawful manner, respecting the confidentiality of Board discussions.
- Advise the Board of Directors on financial management of the Society.
- Review quarterly financial statements and report the financial position to the Board of Directors.
- Provide oversight to ensure regulatory compliance for the following is completed:
- Quarterly Financial statements are prepared and reviewed.
- An Annual Budget is prepared for Board approval with forecasts updated as required.
- A year-end audit is conducted and auditors are appointed annually.
- Public information return is filed with Revenue Canada annually.
- Attend Board of Director meetings and the Annual Meeting.
