Description:  Do you have an eye for museum exhibit design? The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is developing three new exhibits for the Summer tourist season and is looking for someone with a creative flare to help plan and design the museum’s exhibits and displays.

Specific Duties:              

Planning exhibits                                 Designing Exhibits                                 Keeping a record of objects’ locations                                 Working with incoming loans

Qualifications:                

A good eye for detail                                 Interest in New Brunswick's sports heritage                                 Understanding of Museum practice for working with objects

Hours:   May vary depending on the project and time of year.

Ideal Experience:  Installing commercial displays, merchandise and signage or background in museum exhibits and displays.

Job Description: Are you a handy person who loves sports? The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is looking for a volunteer Jack or Jill-of-All-Trades who can build exhibit cases and displays, can paint and knows the ins and outs of small construction projects.

The primary task will be to work with the curator in bringing exhibits to life by helping design, construct and assemble exhibit cases as well as creative displays and installations. Other tasks may include building shelving, painting and small repairs.

Skills: Carpentry, construction, painting

Requirements: This volunteer role is suitable to an individual who can commit at least 2-3 hours once a week as needed.

General Description:   Are you interested in New Brunswick’s sports heritage? The NB Sports Hall of Fame is looking for volunteer tour guides to help give museum tours for visitors. 

Specific Duties:            

Touring visitors through the Museum and helping visitors play on the Virtual Sports System.                                

Ideal Qualifications:

An interest in sports. Knowledge of / willingness to learn about New Brunswick’s sports heritage and the Sports Hall of Fame’s Honoured Members Likes working with the public Because you may be working with children, a security check is required (security check paid for by the NBSHF).

Hours:                          

2-3 hours per tour may be required

Requirements: This volunteer role is suitable to an individual who can commit at least 2-3 hours as needed.

The NB Sports Hall of Fame is searching for a volunteer (from the Fredericton Area) for an exciting opportunity to assist with the organization and delivery of the Canadian Association for Sport Heritage National Conference
The NB Sports Hall of Fame will be the official host organization, however the majority of the conference will be held at the Fredericton Crown Plaza from June 19 - 21, 2019.  This biennial conference usually attracts between 30 and 50 museum and Sports Halls of Fame professionals from across Canada.   

We are seeking a mature and organized volunteer to serve as Conference Coordinator and Support, who will be expected to:

work with NBSHF Staff to ensure exceptional conference coordination, connect with key Sports Heritage stakeholders from across Canada to communicate conference details and coordinate registrations, connect with and help coordinate conference session presenters, assist with general conference coordination and logistics.

Specific Duties:            

Working with artefacts and archival documents Researching and selecting artefacts for exhibits Writing labels and supporting documentation Assist with set up and installation of exhibits

Ideal Qualifications:              

Knowledge of / willingness to learn about New Brunswick’s sports heritage and the NBSHF’s Hall of Famers Excellent command of written and verbal communication skills, especially spelling and grammar Ability to reduce large amounts of information to summaries or point form Experience with research techniques, footnoting, copyright Experience with Microsoft Word and databases

Hours:  2-3 hours per week minimum during the research and development stage.

Requirements: This volunteer role is suitable to an individual who can commit at least 2-3 hours once or more a week on an ongoing basis.

General Description: If you have a passion for sports, heritage and museums this is the volunteer position for you! The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is looking for a volunteer collections assistant to help with the labelling, cataloguing and storage of its recent accessions (artefacts).

Specific Duties:            

Proper care and handling of artefacts and archival documents Labelling artefacts and archival documents Photographing artefacts using digital camera Storing artefacts and archival documents Documenting accessions using Virtual Museums database Reorganize storage facilities as needed

Ideal Qualifications:

Experience working with museums and art galleries collections Knowledge of / willingness to learn Virtual Museums database Excellent hand writing / printing Good eye sight Ability to sew Nit-picky Knows how to use digital camera Able to climb stairs / carry or lift objects

Hours: 2-3 hours per week as needed.
