Volunteer: Bus Driver's

York Care Centre is seeking individuals with a Class 4 (or lower) driver's license classification to drive our 24-passenger bus.

The role will include, logging mileage, assisting with the use of the wheelchair ramp, and securing the wheelchairs in place with the appropriate equipment.

Training will be provided on the use of the ramp and appropriate equipment. Times will vary for volunteer commitment. 

Various trips would include, shopping at various shopping centers or stores, picnics on the green, scenic drives within a 100 km radius, lengthy trips to St. Andrews or St. Stephen, or a short trip to Tim Horton's for a cup of coffee!

York Care Centre is seeking individuals who have a green thumb!

Friends of the Garden Volunteer group, are volunteers who assist with the development and upkeep of our gardens and patios. 

Seasonally, May to October, the volunteers clean and tidy the gardens on a bi-weekly basis, and at times could extend once every 3 weeks depending on the need.  This group will also create a plan for the summer which can include new flowers, or beds to be prepared, patio furniture to be replaced or anything that may need fixed up and painted.

For example, afternoon or evening music, assisting the residents to and from the musical event.  This can be an area where residents feel anxious as they are not sure how they will get to and from due to physical limitations.

We are seeking volunteers who would be interested in engaging the clients in social activities.

 

Time frame of program is 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday. Volunteer time frames ideally would be 10-12pm and 1-3pm.
