Volunteer: Vice President - Finance

The Lifesaving Society New Brunswick seeks an accountant to join its volunteer Board of Directors as Vice President Finance.

The Society is a registered charity working to prevent drowning and reduce water related injury.

Purpose: To govern the Lifesaving Society New Brunswick in accordance with the Society’s Bylaws and Mission and to provide leadership on financial matters to the Board of Directors.

Term of Office: Elected to the Board of Directors at the Lifesaving Society’s Annual General Meeting for a term of two years.

Reporting Relationship: To the members at the General Meeting, annually and to the Board of Directors as required.

Responsibilities

Participate as an active member of the Board of Directors in an ethical and lawful manner, respecting the confidentiality of Board discussions. Advise the Board of Directors on financial management of the Society. Review quarterly financial statements and report the financial position to the Board of Directors. Provide oversight to ensure regulatory compliance for the following is completed: Quarterly Financial statements are prepared and reviewed. An Annual Budget is prepared for Board approval with forecasts updated as required. A year-end audit is conducted and auditors are appointed annually. Public information return is filed with Revenue Canada annually. Attend Board of Director meetings and the Annual Meeting.
