Who We Are
Known as the "One of the BEST museums in New Brunswick" the Fredericton Region Museum is the GATEWAY into the diverse and exciting history of central New Brunswick and the capital region.
Formerly known as the York Sunbury Museum, the Fredericton Region Museum is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors under the direction of the York Sunbury Historical Society, Ltd. The Society was established in 1932 and incorporated in 1934. The museum was housed in several different locations until 1959, when it moved into Officers' Square on Queen Street in Fredericton.
What We Do
Located in the HISTORIC Officers Quarters in the HEART of downtown Fredericton, the Fredericton Regin Museum is an excellent place to explore the area's rich heritage of First Nations, Acadians, Loyalists and other European settlers.
With over 4000 feet of exhibit space and a collection of over 30,000 artefacts, the Museum is a fun and exciting way to engage your senses, look into our past and learn about the important role our ancestors played in shaping the history of New Brunswick and Canada.
There is something for everyone at the Fredericton Region Museum, from children to adults, youth groups and families! Exhibits, programming, summer camps, an artist-in-residence and art boutique are just some of the attractions of the Fredericton Region Museum.
The Fredericton Region Museum offers volunteer positions, experiential learning and internships for high school, college and university students, graduate and post-graduate students. The Museum also offers job placements for youth seeking mentorship, work experience and skills development opportunities. Seniors, unemployed and underemployed persons and persons in transition from one career to another are welcome to volunteer at the museum in a position that is of interest to them from collections and exhibit development to publishing, membership and volunteer recruitment.
