Who We Are

At The Salvation Army Community and Family Services in Fredericton we are committed to walking alongside individuals and families through challenging times—offering support, dignity, and hope. Rooted in compassion and guided by our mission to meet human needs without discrimination, we provide practical assistance through a variety of programs designed to empower and uplift our community. One of our core services is our Food Bank, where we offer a personalized shopping experience that allows individuals and families to choose the food that best suits their needs. This client-choice model supports dignity, reduces waste, and ensures people feel seen and respected. Beyond food security, we also provide a range of outreach and support programs, including: Pathway to Hope (coming soon) Back-to-school and holiday support (e.g., backpacks, Christmas hampers, toy drives) Referrals to housing, employment, and mental health resources Life skills workshops and advocacy support for newcomers and vulnerable populations Every person who walks through our doors is met with kindness, confidentiality, and care. Whether someone needs help for a day or ongoing support, we’re here to listen, support, and journey together. We believe no one should face life’s challenges alone.

What We Do

We go beyond just handing out food. We offer a dignified and personalized shopping experience for individuals and families in need. Our clients are welcomed by a friendly check-in volunteer, then guided through a “shopping” process where they can choose the items that best fit their needs and preferences similar to a typical grocery store. This approach helps restore dignity and gives people the autonomy to select what works for their households. We rely on a dedicated team of volunteers to make it all happen.
